Prime Minister Assures Nation of Food Security

The prime minister, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa, has reassured Tanzanians of food security, vowing that no one will die of hunger. Currently, he said, relevant authorities are busy distributing relief food to all hunger-hit areas as the government has already identified all regions facing food shortage.

The PM said this when he toured Majareko village in Chamwino district, Dodoma region, one of the hunger-hit villages in the country. Mr Majaliwa cautioned against misuse of relief food, citing reports that some people were using it to make local brew, warning that tough disciplinary action will be taken against all culprits. "We have enough stock, no one will die of hunger."

Education Minister, Dr Joyce Ndalichako Rejects Grading Proposal

The minister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training Prof Joyce Ndalichako has rejected reasons advanced by the National Examination Council (NECTA) to change system from Division to Grade Points Average (GPA) for form IV and VI examination results.

On January 7,2016, the minister, during her familiarization tour at NECTA offices, ordered the council to give her, professional reasons that's prompted them to change the grading system from Division to GPA effective 2014.

Immigration Nets 955 Illegal Immigrants

The immigration department has netted more than 950 immigrants who were working in the country without residential and work permits. Several of them have been taken to court; others are still under investigation while some have been deported according to Deputy Commissioner General of immigration department, Mr Abbas Irovya. 

Mr Irovya and old a news conference in Dar Es Salaam that between December 24, last year and January 7, this year, the immigration officials arrested 402 suspects from more than 17 countries who were living in the country illegally.

TRA Chief Commissioner Office Invaded, Computer Stolen

Unknown people invaded TRA chief commissioner office and stole computer plus some other things. According to Mwananchi newspaper and police amongst other things stolen, the computer used by Dr Philip Mpango when he was the acting General Commisioner of TRA was also stolen. It's possible that the computer had the information of all tax evaders and also the containers lost in Dar Es Salaam port.

President Magufuli Never Banned Miniskirts

Yesterday there was a report circulating the Internet and social media that President Magufuli of United Republic of Tanzania has banned miniskirts to all female as a way to curb spreading of HIV disease in the country. Well the news is false the president never said so and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, East Africa, Regional and International Cooperation of United Republic of Tanzania has released a statement to the press disapproving the report.
