The minister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training Prof Joyce Ndalichako has rejected reasons advanced by the National Examination Council (NECTA) to change system from Division to Grade Points Average (GPA) for form IV and VI examination results.
On January 7,2016, the minister, during her familiarization tour at NECTA offices, ordered the council to give her, professional reasons that's prompted them to change the grading system from Division to GPA effective 2014.
Prof Ndalichako told a news conference that she had received the reasons from NECTA but was rejecting them because the reasons were inadequate and unprofessional.
She has therefore directed the Council to review and revisit the reasons that prompted them to change the grading system and thereafter come up with professional criteria to show benefits of the new system.
Prof Ndalichako has also ordered NECTA to immediately abolish examination number for private candidates, which served as continuous assessment, arguing that the exam was unproductive and unprofessional.
The minister vowed that she would not tolerate or agree to see the country’s education being played around by some unpatriotic people.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Job Ndugai is today expected to unveil names of members of Parliamentary Committees as the National Assembly starts its session in Dodoma.

According to the timetable, after appointments of the committee members, the respective members would elect their chairs and vice chairs and thereafter members of the committees would be briefed on their roles, obligations, privileges and rights.
