Finally a widow, who shades tears in front of President Magufuli asking for his help has been given back her farm after Babati District Commisioner (DC) of Manyara Region, Crispin Meela solved the conflict of ownership of property.
President Magufuli was recently in Babati where he asked Meela to make sure widow known as Mwanaidi Mussa is given back her properties including farm and house which were snatched by the second wife after their husband passed away.
Meela entrusted Mwanaidi farm of 2.5 acres which was taken by the second wife and ordered if the second wife isn't satisfied with his decision, she should go to court and appeal instead of taking matters into her own hands.
Babati DC also asked residents to stop being corrupted by few people with personal interest and follow laws and regulations instead.
"Inheritance disputed continue to happen in many places within the country because people don't want to abide to inheritance laws, others want to benefit from the properties left behind by deceased."
According to Mwanaidi who is now middle aged the assets dispute between her and the second wife Asia Musa has lasted for sometime now despite her efforts to ask assistance from the local authorities, because many based on one side something which made the matter to be worse.
"Dispute of farm and house between me and Asia has lasted for several years now because majority of local authority leaders are basing on one side." Mwanaidi said.
On the other hand Asia said the house belonged to her and their late husband because she and their deceased husband constructed it together. However Mwanaidi refuted Asia's statement saying that when Asia got married to their deceased husband the house was already constructed by the two of them.
