Funding agency of United States of America government has stopped its aid to Tanzania government, due to lack of transparency and fairness in Zanzibar election as well as failure to implement Internet Law.
Board of directors for agency of challenges of Milenia (Shirika la Changamoto za Milenia MCC) has said, Tanzania hasn't complete the standards required so as to receive aid from the agency; therefore it will not receive the aid of the second phase which is $472.8 equal to one trillion Tanzania shillings.
Board of directors report said "Tanzania government didn't take the necessary measures to ensure respect for freedom of expression and participate in the implementation of laws for online errors."
Moreover the report said Tanzania decided to proceed with the election without considering the opposition party CUF. Also it failed to oversee complains from USA government and international community.
Tanzania received aid of $698 from the MCC in the first phase. On the other hand Zanzibar repeated its general election which Dr Ali Mohamed Shein of CCM political party was announced the winner. The election was conducted without considering CUF political party boycotting the election. Dr Shein has been sworn in as Zanzibar president.
