A traditional healer, Juma Ramadhani and Masai college of tourism student, Saumu Mohamed (19) have been arrested by police for destroying and aborting a seven months old pregnancy. Tanga Region Police Commissioner (RPC), Mihayo Msikhela told journalists yesterday that, the suspects are residents of Sahare street, they were caught on 29 February 2016, at 8.00pm in their street which is located at Mzingani ward.
Mr Mihayo said the suspects were caught after citizens picked a dead infant of female gender who allegedly was seven months old pregnancy.
"The day of the event at Sahare street in Tanga region, a dead female infant was picked and she was allegedly equal to a seven months pregnancy inborn. The pregnancy was aborted by Saumu who is a Masai college of Tourism student here in Tanga." Mr Mihayo said
"According to our investigation, Saumu consumed traditional herbs which was given to her by traditional Healer Juma Ramadhani and as a result the pregnancy was sabotaged; she was able to give birth to a dead inborn then she dicided to dispose dead body of that inborn which was laiter found by the citizens." He added.
Mr Mihayo also said both suspects have been detained by the police and they will be tried in court after the investigation is completed.
