Dr Tulia Ackson was appointed as a law maker by the president Dr John Pombe Magufuli and yesterday she took the oath as an MP in Dodoma region. Moreover Dr Tulia also took deputy speaker candidate form via CCM political party and majority thinks she is likely to win the post.
Other than her, Mr Musa Azzan (Ilala), Mariam Kisangi (Special seats), Mr Sadifa Juma Khamisi (Donge) and Ms Bahati Ali Hemed also took the deputy speaker candidate form. CCM party will seat later today to pick one candidate to represent the party in the deputy speaker election. There is a possibility of Dr Tulia to be selected because it was reported that other candidates have stepped down willingly.
Therefore if Dr Tulia Ackson represents CCM, she will compete with Magdalena Sakaya from CUF political party. However Dr Tulia has a huge possibility of winning and if that happened she will be the first deputy speaker who is not an elected MP.
