Comoro, Tanzania Vow to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Comoro president Azali Assoumani has assured Tanzania that his government shall continue strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries especially in business, health and education sectors.

The Comoro leader gave the assurance at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) when he held talks with Vice-President Samia Suluhu Hassan on behalf of President John Magufuli.

Married TV Reporters Arrested After Mother Breastfed Baby Hours After Snorted Cocaine

 

Som Lisaius, 42 and Krystin Sorich Lisaius, both TV reporters in Arizona were arraigned on three criminal charges in Tuscon on Monday after Krystin Sorich breastfed her four month old baby hours after snorting cocaine with her husband. 

The woman rushed her baby who fell ill the next day to a hospital and refused to do a toxicology test despite cocaine showing in the four month old baby's system but she later admitted to police that she used the hard drug, but didn't think the baby would be harmed if 12 hours had passed before breast-feeding.

President Magufuli has directed Regional Comissioners (RCs) and District Commissionners (DCs) to maintain peace, security, tranquility amongst people in their area of work. President also urged the RCs and DCs to put forward public interest and to ensure that they deliver to the expectation of the people. He also assured them the government will give the full support throughout to support their daily routines and ensure that their goals are achieved.

The president said all that early today during the swearing ceremony of the new RCs and DCs in the state house in Dar Es Salaam.

36 Dead, 147 Injured in Instanbul Airport Terror Attack

36 people have died and 147 others injured in Ataturk Instanbul airport terror attack, which happened on Tuesday 28 June 2016. Witnesses have described deadly carnage and crowds in a panic as the attackers struck one of the world's busiest airport in Turkey.

According to CNN reporter Abdulkadir Selvi, an undercover policemen noticed a man wearing an overcoat and started to follow him as he met up with other men. After they realised they were being followed, they opened fire on the policemen, and one of the suspected terrorists blew himself up at the international arrivals waiting lobby while the other two denoted their devices inside airport.

Bandits Linked to Mwanza and Tanga Killings Shot in Dar

Police in Dar shot and killed two people who are suspected to be behind the recent attacks in Mwanza and Tanga in which 11 people were killed. The Dar Es Salaam Special Zone Commander, Mr Simon Sirro, mentioned the killed bandits names, Said Mhango (30) who was linked to Mwanza mosque bloodbath. Another bandit killed is Mohamed Abdallah alias Abou Seif, who is suspected to be behind recent killings in Tanga.

Mr Simon said Mhando died on the way as he was being rushed to Muhimbili hospita. The police shot the two bandits as they were trying to escape through a window.

Severely Punishment For Anyone Who Stops a Girl From Getting Primary and Secondary Education

Parliament have finally made amendments to the law that will punish people who stops girls from getting primary and secondary education by either marrying them or impregnating them. The Written Laws Miscellaneous Act (no 2) of 2016 amended by members of parliament now allows court to provide jail sentence of 30 years and fine of 5 million Tsh, to anyone found guilty of hindering a girl from achieving primary and secondary education.

Most Drugs to be Manufactured Locally

About 60 percent of all medicines used in the country will be manufactured by local companies in the next five years, the government announced on Tuesday. The Deputy Minister for Health, Social Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Hamisi Kigwangala, said in the National Assembly here on Thesday that a special strategy to ensure the target is reached was underway. 

He was responding to a question by Mr Juma Nkamis (Chemba-CCM) who wanted to be apprised on the efforts the government is taking to ensure that patients get prescribed medicines at affordable prices.

Political Leaders Gratuity Subjected to Five Percent Income Tax

All public leaders in the country, including President John Magufuli, will be subjected to five percent income tax on their gratuity at the end of their tenure in office. Previously, the leaders enjoyed exemptions on their send off packages through the Public Service Retirement Benefits Act of 1999. Finance and Planning Minister Dr Philip Mpango proposed waiving the immunity fit lawmakers when presenting budget estimates for 2016/2017 in the National Assembly on June 8. 

The proposal was bitterly trashed by a section of MPs, with some suggesting that the head of states gratuity should be taxed if the plan was "anything to go by."

Seven Dead as Strange Disease Hits Kondoa District

Seven people have died with 21 others admitted at Dodoma Regional Referral Hospital and Kondoa District Hospital after a strange disease hit Chemba and Kondoa districts. Minister of Health, Social Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Ms Ummy Mwalimu gave a statement yesterday saying victims samples has been collected and it's currently being tested in laboratory to determine what type of disease this is, results are expected to be out by Monday or Tuesday of this week.

“We have sent samples of the patients including blood, stool, vomit fluids and liver to the national laboratory, the Chief Government Chemist and Kilimanjaro Christian Research Institute (KCRI) for laboratory testing,” Ms Mwalimu said. 

Tanzania Starts to Make Its Own Helcopters

Tanzania has started to build its own helicopters in a project that will see the first batch of such choppers taking into the sky sometimes in 2018. Already, the prototype model, a two seater aircraft is in its final stages of completion at the Mechanical and Engineering Department of the Arusha Technical College, which runs a fully-fledged factory producing various forms of machinery, including a prototype motor vehicle and number of industrial engines. 

But it is the Tanzanian made new helicopter that seems to be turning heads here; "We are complementing President Magufuli's industrialization policy in pioneering the first locally made helicopters that will be available to ordinary residents at affordable prices," explained the man behind the ATC chopper project, Engineer Abdi Mjema. 

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ms Maimuna Tarishi, who also toured the project over the weekend seemed surprised at the development and wanted to know when exactly the chopper will hit the skies.

“We are contacting the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) for the permission to fly the chopper for trials,” said Engineer Mjema

As male parents celebrated Father's Day yesterday, Steve shared his personal story on how hard it has been taking care of his daughter Sam since her mother died in the labor room.

The 43 year old, who lives in Birmingham said he met Sam's mom Sarah Cunningham in Stoke where he worked as an assistant manager at Morrisons. He and Sam had been together for two or three years when they were finally expecting their first child.

Regional Peace Committees Vital For National Security Says PM

The Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, has directed the formation of regional peace committee to uphold peace and harmony in the country. He issued the directives in Dodoma on Wednesday when addressing religious leaders in the region, including the elderly, at the special Iftar he had hosted for them at his residence. 

He recognized the peace and harmony existing in the capital city designate, attributing it to the cooperation and good relations between Muslims and Christianleaders and the presence of a peace committee.

Man Beats His Sister to Death Because He Didn't Want Her to Marry Her Boyfriend

Pakstani man beats his sister to death because he didn't want her to marry her boyfriend. Police said Anum Masih 19, was murdered by her brother Saqib Masih 21, on the evening of June 10. According to CNN report Saqib smashed his sister Anum's skull with a large wooden something which caused her death.

"She wanted to marry, we didn't agree on this wedding. We were arguing," Saqib told CNN from a police cell in the city of Sialkot. She was my sister. I didn't mean to kill her. I've been crying ever since. She was my sister."

Loopholes in the highly contested Public Procurement Act of 2011 that led to inflated costs and corruption in public procurement will be something of the past as the government tabled for first reading in the National Assembly a bill seeking to amend the legislation.

The Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill, 2016, tabled on Thursday proposes efficiency in procuring goods and services reflecting prevailing market prices, enjoy benefits such as bulky procurement accruing from use of standardized requirements, minimize corruption loopholes and increase accountability in procurement.

"We Have Blocked 603,000 IMEI" -Says TCRA

Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority decided to switch off all fake IMEI for cell phones, IPad and Modem. TCRA executed its decision on 17 June 2016 at 12.00am, communication manager Innocent Mungy gave an official statement regarding the issue.

According to him 603,000 IMEIs have been blocked in the midnight around 12.00am, it's hard to the exact number of cell phones, iPad, Internet modem blocked because some can have two up to four IMEIs.

Two MPs Suspended For Deceiving Other MPs During Parliament Meetings

Deputy speaker of Tanzania parliament Dr Auckson Tulia along with parliament displinary committee, have suspended two MPs (Member of Parliament) for deceiving other MPs during parliament meetings.

Parliament displinary committee reached the above decision on June 16, 2016 and officially announced to have suspend Hon. Susan Lyimo  and hon. Anatropia Theonist both special seat MPs from CHADEMA; for deceiving other MPs during their meeting.

Crime scene photos showing the dead body of Reeva Steenkamp, who was murdered by Oscar Pistorius at his home in 2013, have been made public after her father, Barry Steenkamp, pleaded for them to be released to show what Pistorius did to his daughter. The photos were released by the Pretoria High Court yesterday. 

 

The 29-year-old model was struck in the head, elbow and hip as she hid in the toilet door at Oscar's home on Valentine's Day in 2013. Oscar shot her with three military-grade Black Talon bullets that are designed to expand upon impact, wreaking devastating damage to the flesh it strikes. Displinary and Legal Actions Should be Taken Against HESLB Suspended Officers- Says Joyce Ndalichako

New revelations of mismanagement of public funds have emerged following a special audit directed by the Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, Professor Joyce Ndalichako, into the Higher Education Student's Loans Board (HESLB). 

She has, therefore, issued two weeks to HESLB to take immediate action against suspended officials, including disciplinary and legal actions and act on all issues raised I the special audit report and provide her with a report of the action taken. Briefing journalists on the special audit's preliminary findings at the ministry's premises yesterday, Prof Ndalichako revelead shocking high levels of embezzlement of public funds, including double allocation of loans, poor records of outstanding loans from students and exorbitant allowances allocated for HESLB officials.
