36 people have died and 147 others injured in Ataturk Instanbul airport terror attack, which happened on Tuesday 28 June 2016. Witnesses have described deadly carnage and crowds in a panic as the attackers struck one of the world's busiest airport in Turkey.
According to CNN reporter Abdulkadir Selvi, an undercover policemen noticed a man wearing an overcoat and started to follow him as he met up with other men. After they realised they were being followed, they opened fire on the policemen, and one of the suspected terrorists blew himself up at the international arrivals waiting lobby while the other two denoted their devices inside airport.
There is no claim of responsibility up to now but it's believed to be ISIS as one of the witnesses said "my cousin was leaving the airport as the bombs went off, she heard bombers screaming Alluh Akbar before detonating."
Sue Savage was in the airport to see a friend off when heard gunshots and then an explosion. More gunshots rang out, followed by another boom, she told Erin Burnett OutFront.
She ducked into a men's prayer room and then into men's toilet, where she hid in a stall with a young woman. They came out about 30 minutes later, and heard more screams and gunshots. They ducked into a rom where luggage is inspected. She and about 30 people were herded into a women's prayer room untill authorities led them out and down an escalator into the main terminal hall.
"There was a lot of blood, the floor was marked with bloody boot marks, there was so much glass on the floor they were scuffing it aside so we didn't slip" she said,
