CHAUMA to Turn Mwanza into Industrial Hub

CHAMA cha Ukombozi wa Umma (CHAUMA) presidential candidate Mr Hashim Rungwe has assured Mwanza residents that his new government will transform the region into an industrial hub where unemployment will become history.
He said during a campaign meeting held at Buswelu in Ilemela district on Sunday that Mwanza had many industries which were privatized and others that remained inoperative and left to collapse.
If CHAUMMA were voted into power, Mr Rungwe said, the privatized industries will be brought back into public ownership and the collapsed ones will be revived. “Mwanza was a place that had industries and many people from this place were employed, but unfortunately it’s no longer the case because many have been privatized while others have collapsed beyond repair,” he said.
He said his party would not tolerate this situation, promising to resuscitate industrial development in one of Tanzania’s major cotton growing regions. The aim, he said, would be to create employment and to fight poverty for the region’s burgeoning population.
Apart from industrialization, the candidate also spoke about development in the education sector where CHAUMA has noble plans that will ensure every Tanzanian gets free education from nursery to university level.
Looking confident as he addressed the gathering, Mr Rungwe said providing free education to university level was possible in this country which is endowed with abundant resources.
“There’s no need to question how we will grant free education at all levels because it is possible in this rich nation as far as natural resources are concerned. If there are those who have failed to do so, CHAUMA can, so please vote for us,” Mr Rungwe said.
The presidential aspirants, who also contested for the same position in 2010 through NCCR-Mageuzi party, also spoke about the Tanzanian Union structure. He told his audience that CHAUMA believes in a Union of three governments and if he is elected, his government would immediately embark on writing a new constitution to accommodate all necessary changes that will shape up the new country.
Several people at the campaign rally asked a number of questions challenging Mr Rungwe to address many other issues directly touching their daily lives like cotton growing and the availability of markets for their cattle products.
