Better Salary Perks on Magufuli Action Plan

CCM Union presidential candidate, Dr John Magufuli, has pledged tremendous improvement of salaries and perks for civil servants to motivate them to work even harder.
“If elected president, my plan is to handsomely reward all civil servants in the country,” said Dr Magufuli when addressing the packed Majimaji Stadium here.
He cautioned, though, that the remunerations would have to be earned, stressing that he would demand their full commitment and diligence.
To stress the importance of hard work, Dr Magufuli quoted a Bible verse stating; ‘if a man will not work he shall not eat.’ He said as Minister for Works, he had managed to implement such plan successfully with TANROADS where some staff members earn as much as four million shillings per month.
Earlier, addressing villagers in Ludewa District, the candidate said that transport woes facing villagers and other travellers between Ludewa and Nyasa districts in Njombe and Ruvuma regions respectively, are set to become history following plans to construct a bridge across Ruhuhu River.
“Construction of the bridge will go hand in hand with upgrading of the road linking the districts to tarmac level, “said Dr Magufuli whose campaign trail kicked off in Ruvuma Region where he addressed a gathering at Lituhi in the newly-formed Nyasa District.
The 50-tonne MV Ruhuhu currently links the districts, but Dr Magufuli conceded that the ferry had become unreliable as it cannot operate throughout the year due to the river’s fluctuating water level.
He also informed the eager villagers that plans are underway to introduce an irrigation scheme along the river to promote farming in the area.
At Lituhi, he introduced Engineer Stella Manyanya, who is seeking the Nyasa parliamentary on CCM ticket. He handed her the party’s 300-page election manifesto and urged the crowd to vote for her, describing the Rukwa Regional Commissioner (RC) as a capable and committed leader.
“CCM regards women highly and would like to see all those who are vying to become Members of Parliament (MPs) or councillors on the party’s ticket sail through,” he pledged.
He added that the party’s nomination of Ms Samia Suluhu Hassan is a testimony to the ruling party’s commitment towards the said ambition.
Before addressing the crowd, Dr Magufuli laid a wreath on the grave of the former Mbinga North MP, the late Captain John Komba, who died earlier this year.
Dr Magufuli also received more than 200 new members who have defected from Chadema. The members were represented by Mr Sixbert Nombo who said their move was caused by their party’s decision to pick former Prime Minister, Mr Edward Lowassa, as the opposition party’s presidential aspirant.
Meanwhile, ROSE ATHUMANI reports from Dodoma that the party’s Union presidential running mate, Ms Samia Suluhu Hassan, has called on women to campaign and vote CCM back into office.
Ms Samia made the call yesterday in a meeting with Dodoma women, saying women were a force to reckon with and can single-handedly bring resounding victory to CCM.
“This is our year ... we women are a big force and I know we will work hard … house to house until we get into the State House.
Once we are in power, we will work together to address challenges facing us as women but we must work in cooperation,’’ she appealed.
Ms Samia expressed gratitude to God and the two women; presidential aspirants who made it to the top three; Dr Asha-Rose Migiro and Ambassador Amina Salum Ali for paving the way for women to receive the opportunity for the second highest office in the country.
She promised not to let down both CCM and the public for the trust placed on her, as there were other qualified women who could have been selected, pledging to work hard in fulfilling her promises to the public.
She outlined her priority areas, including health, especially reproductive health, education - with a focus on girls, building more toilets and laboratories, water supply, agriculture and cleanliness in cities and towns.
“These are my priority areas that I will work on together with other duties that my boss will assign me,” she explained.
Ms Samia also vowed to ensure teachers interests are protected, including timely promotions and their various pending payments through a special organ that will be established by CCM government once in power, to address challenges facing teachers.
Speaking about her campaign trail, she expressed her concern on two regions - Singida and Manyara - that will likely face famine due to drought.
She gave assurance that no one will die of hunger because the government has enough food reserve, but underscored the need for public to stop cutting down trees and planting more trees in areas they live in.
The wife of the Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda, Mama Tunu, urged all women to walk from door to door to campaign for CCM’s victory in the general election, noting that women have all reasons to work hard in this year’s campaigns “because for the first time, the nation will have the first-ever woman vice-president.’’
