16 year old Destyni Tyree, who lives in homeless shelter with her mother in Washngton DC, recently did wonders by graduating high school two years early with a GPA of 4.0 and college scholarship. Destyn and her mother had to live in a shelter after her mother lost her job two years ago, but Destyn says she uses her unfortunate situation as a motivation to achieve her goals instead of letting it affect her negatively.
"I don't want to live in a shelter when I get older". "I want to better my life, so that gave me the drive to do what I want to do," she told NBC 4 Washington.
With great support from her mother and the principal of her school, Destyni managed to meet and exceed her goal of graduating two years early.
She will be attending Potomac State Univesity later this year, but she is still saving money to coverup other costs which aren't covered by the scholarship such as cost of books.
Destyni's mother said; "I am very proud of Destyni's achievement."
