According to Sitora after meeting Omar online in 2009, she moved to Florida to live with him when they got married. "His temper quickly became apparent he beat me, he would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn't finished or something like that" she said.
The ex wife spoke to Washngton Post and said the abuse started shortly after they got married.she then decided to tell her parents and they came to rescue her. After she left with her parents she never saw or spoke to Omar again. According to documents their divorce was finalized in 2011 just 2 years before the FBI's first interogatted Omar.
Sitora further explained that Omar owned one handgun while they were together but she never saw any signs he was radicalized but of course this was seven years ago. Sitora is also devastated and shocked by this incident done by her ex husband. "It's gonna take a while to process" she said.
According to records Omar worked for a security company called G4S. His ex wife added that he was a guard at a juvenile delinquent facility.
