Minister of Constitution and Law, Dr Harrison Mwakyembe said, the government plans to submit a bill for marriage law in the parliament, which will ensure all children who are forced into child marriages will not be suspended from their either primary or secondary schools.
Dr Mwakyembe said so when he was providing the answer for the question asked by Ileje MP, hon. Janeth Mbene, which said; When will the government change marriage law?
"The government plans to submit a bill for amendments of marriage law within the country so as to ensure all children and teens forced into early marriage won't be suspended from their primary or secondary schools" he said.
Moreover the marriage law bill will also bring changes to education law, whereby it will allow all children especially girls to attend school free of charge. Also the ministry plans to collect views about marriage law and other laws from women using special method known as White Paper.
However Dr Mwakyembe said the process of amending marriage law as well as inheritance and succession laws had to be put to rest to allow collection of views of the new constitution.
