Tanzania Receives 268bn/-Aid From India Government For Lake Victoria -Tabora Water Pipeline

Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Water and Irrigarion, Engineer Mbogo Futakamba has revealed that Tanzania has received an aid of 268bn/- from India government to complete the extension of  Lake Victoria -Tabora water Pipeline.

This project is meant to make water problems in the region history and it will be executed from July this year. Moreover the project is expected to take 18 months before it's fully completed and it will be carried out by both India and Tanzania governments.


"The government has already finalised feasibility study for the project aimed at addressing water scarcity problem in Tabora Region,” the PS told the ‘Daily News’ in an exclusive interview.
“Urambo District will be connected with water supply service from Malagarasi River while other districts in the region will be supplied with water from Lake Victoria,” He added. 
On the other hand Minister for Water and Irrigation Greyson Lwenge directed the new national water board to make sure all Tanzanians have access to precious liquid of 95% in urban areas, and 85% in rural areas. The minister said this as he was unveiling the new national water board early last week.
“A total of 1,800 water projects are currently in progress to curb the current shortage,” he said when inaugurating the second water national board since its establishment in 2011.
