ACT Wazalendo Member of Parliament (MP) candidate for Arusha urban district, Mr Estomih Mallah has died early today at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC). Shabani Mambo who is the ACT vice chairman has confirmed the news.
Mr Estomih fell ill on Tuesday after campaigning rally addressed by ACT Wazalendo presidential candidate Anna Mghwira at Ngaramtoni Arusha. He was taken to St Thomas hospital in Arusha where he was treated untill yesterday, when he was referred to KCMC hospital. Funeral arrangements shall be made soon after his family conduct a joint meeting.
Mr Estomih chaired financial committee in ACT Wazalendo party and according to Mr Mambo the party has lost a very important member who is gap will take long to be filled.
The deceased won councillorship at Kimandolu ward through CHADEMA ticket in 2010. He was later elected as the deputy mayor of Arusha city council in a disputed election between political party rivals CCM and CHADEMA.
However in 2011 the deceased was stripped off his membership in CHADEMA due to excalated political tension between political rivals CCM and CHADEMA in an attempt to win council mayoral.
Mr Estomih was running for member of parliament seat in the upcoming 25th October election, facing off incumbent MP Godbless Lema (CHADEMA) and other aspirant for the seat is Mr Philemon Mollel (CCM).
