Tanzania Election Result To Be Out in Four Days- NEC
Tanzania election result will be out in threee to four days after the voting exercise which is taking place today 25th October, says NEC chairman Damian Lubuva. Speaking in news conference in Dar Es Salaam yesterday Mr Damian assured Tanzanians that the election will be fair, transparent and free; he therefore encouraged every Tanzanian who have register before to go and vote for the candidates of their choice.
Tanzanians will today choose the successor of President Kikwete as well as member of parliaments and councillors. Mr Damian has encouraged people to cast their votes and return to their homes afterwards, nobody is allowed to stand 200 metres from the polling stations. Tanzania has been selecting new presidents in peace therefore we should all maintain that and not to cause any chaos which will sabotage peace in the country.
Moreover he has warned civil society organisations not to announce unauthorised result of the election he urged that the only mandated body is NEC therefore everyone should wait results announced by NEC and not otherwise.
Last week the opposition party CHADEMA asked the electoral body to allow those voters whom their names weren't in the polling stations but are in the register and NEC refused to do so, only the names of the voters available in the polling stations will be able to vote. Also voters whom their identity cards pictures aren't clearly seen will be allowed to vote.
Voters who are visually impaired will be allowed to come with their aides and there will be given tactile ballot papers to cast their votes which are available in each and every polling station.
However NEC encouraged voters not to worry about the safety of their votes because each political party has its agent in the polling station to make sure no votes are stolen.
