Zanzibar Electrol Commision chairman Jecha Salum Jecha has officiall cancel the results for Zanzibar general election done on 25th October 2015. ZEC chairman gave some reasons for nullifying the results, one them being the election violated election laws and Zanzibar constitution.
Jecha Salum provided almost nine reasons as to why the election didn't base on Zanzibar constitution. Firstly some of members of ZEC failed to come into agreement to the extent of physical attacking each other.
However it's very obvious some of ZEC members are more interested on their political party interests rather than ZEC interests, and we must remember not all political parties have their representatives inside ZEC team. Moreover one of the presidential election candidate decided to announce to the media he is the winner something which should be done by ZEC only.
On the other hand during the election some of the political parties representatives were forcefully evacuated from the polling stations in Pemba region, especialy representatives for TADEA party. Also some youths forcefully prevented citizens who have no parties to vote for the candidates of their interest during the election. Nevertheless in some polling stations in Pemba number of votes counted were more than the number of registered voters. Moreover in some polling stations ballot boxes were taken to another place for the counting of votes an exercise which must be done within the polling station.
ZEC has not announce when the election will be repeated instead Jecha asked all Zanzibar citizens to be patient untill when they have make decision on that.
