Babe Sufferes First Degree Burnt After Drinking Oven Cleaner

 

Elijah Mole (1 year) grabbed a bottle of Pride product oven cleaner and pressed it on his mouth while his father was cleaning the oven on September 16. The accident made Elijah to suffer first degree burnt on his tongue, mouth and neck. Elijah was rushed to Birmingham children hospital and he has been receiving treatment since then.

 

Parents Jimy and Deanne from Great Barr have shared the story and pictures of the accident to Birmingham online.

Jimmy said: “I’d started cleaning the oven with Oven Pride and Elijah was crawling around the front room.“I just put the oven cleaner down for a second, then turned my back and he just suddenly appeared and grabbed it.

“I turned round and he was choking, and I didn’t know what was going on until I saw the cleaner on the floor and realised. “I dialled 999, and they were here within three or four minutes, and Elijah was crying and gagging and his face was all burnt.”

 

The couple who have another three year old son Jacob, advised parents to be careful so as such accidents won't happen to their children. Jimy says he feels guilty about the accident of his son because it was his faulty he should have been more careful. 

 

Elijah celebrated his first birthday on the hospital bed with his Parents beside him. The doctors have examined and treated him, fortunately Elijah didn't swallow any of the liquid cleaner but he was also diagnosed with acute kidney failure although it's not known yet if it's related to the oven cleaner accident but the doctors may have to put Elijah on dialysis.
