She said this when she was addressing a campaign rally here where she was informed by the Chairperson of Tabora women group, Mwanne Nchemba, that the region is too big and it has reached a point for it to be divided. She also appealed to the government to tap water from Lake Victoria.
“The issue of Tabora being divided into two regions is very much possible, as long as you have met all the requirements and present them to the Prime Minister’s Office. If we receive such assurance then rest assured we will divide the region,” she said.
Samia also promised that her government will build a cigarette factory in the area because the region is leading in tobacco production. She said that such a factory will create employment opportunities for youths in Tabora, adding that dormant factories will be repossessed by the government.
On water woes facing Tabora residents, she said that the problem will be solved through a major water project from Lake Victoria. The presidential running mate said as a woman she knows how it feels to lack water because in most cases the ones who suffer are women. “This is my first agenda of making sure that women receive safe and reliable water within a short walking distance.
That’s why I assure you that water will reach Tabora within a very short period of time,” she said. She also promised Tabora residents that once elected, her government will make sure that dormitories are available in secondary schools which will tackle early pregnancies problems rampant in the area.
On the absence of a district hospital, she said that the government will ensure that it builds one in the area to reduce congestion experienced at the Utete Regional Hospital. Earlier, the party’s Special Seats legislator, Munde Tambwe, told Samia that the first priority for the area when CCM is elected is to construct a district hospital.
